Who has replaced their steering linkage with the updated one?

I am looking into changing out my steering linkages with the one which is I guess the 08 design? Since I have 120K on the truck I am seriously looking into this. The reason for Dodge changing to the newer parts is not part of a recall is it? Otherwise I'm looking at 305.00 for the links and bars and another 125.00 for the stabilizer. What do you know about this change over?
Thanks

I don't thnk you have much choice. The old parts are either no longer available, or soon will be no longer available. If you take it to a dealer or a shop for front end work they will tell you the upgraded steering parts are mandatory.

But definitely well worth it, IMHO. I don't know what one of these trucks steers like new because we bought ours used (1yr.-old repo). But it steers very well now. No complaints.

I clicked the link and it won't go. Is a recall something that you have to pay for? The whole reason for me posting this is that I chased down my deathwobble due to a tie rod end that connects to the pitman arm being worn out. I went to a dealership parts dept. and asked to get a new one. They said they were discontinued and I learned about the new setup there. They guy behind the counter chased me down as I was leaving and said they had 2 complete steering assemblys that they took off of a couple of trucks that they were going to throw away and I was welcome to them if I wanted them. Obviously I took them off their hands and proceeded to rob the tierod ends off of them when I got home. 2 of them were good and the others were worn out and not useable. I did get the part installed and my deathwobble is gone for now, but I do have the rest of the components still installed and their life, I'm sure, is on a time limit. Since I have an aftermarket steering stabilizer in there will it fit on the new set-up that dodge has?

The steering stablizer mounts differently to the new steering kit. When I bought the new kit I also bought the new steering stablizer and new pitnam arm. The difference in the truck steering is unbeliveable. Well worth the investment.

new pitman arm has a different angle to it so pitman arm ball stud points forward more instead of straight down to keep it from contacting lower linkage under full suspension compression.

Well that sucks. My pitman arm is fine, so how much is a new pitman arm? I have read plenty of horror posts about pulling off a pitman arm and wrecking your steeringbox internals.

My truck came with the upgraded steering, I love it, Previous owner did it, but I love it. Just gotta do the pitman arm still because it wasn't swapped.

The new pitman arm is around $60. It isn't too bad to get off, but I did have to buy a tool and modify it to fit. Then again if you have DW your steering box might be on the way to being hoofed too.

I bought the new steering, but then had to buy it again because it was recalled..grrr...Maybe they'll recall the parts sold to walk-ins, but I didn't want to take any chances. If they do, then I'll have spare parts.

i thought the new pitman arm was only $40'ish but, either way still not much considering what can happen if your linkage connects. i also had to modify my puller, but it came right off. new linkage is great but it makes it easy to tell my box is shot so now i'm pulling the arm again to put in a new box...
