trans temp ? with quad x2

I used to have a banks on my truck and it would show that everyday driving my trans temp was around 180. now with quad and commander it is showing around 150 to 160. and I dont think outside temp has much to do with it because it is 80* F here in La. what are some of yalls numbers? Does this sound right or is it a little low? I have an auto trans. thanks for any input.

that sounds good, if you havent have any problems with yours, then maybe its good. I just wanted to double check to make sure it wasnt just my truck or that the sensor was messed up. Thanks

Assume with your bully dog, you did not install a sender, you just used the factory one (ie hooked through the OBD connector)
The factory one sucks and is nothing good.

Your one with the commander you installed a actual sender.
Where you placed it depends on the temp.

Im not exactly sure how to explain where I placed it. Its on the pass side of the trans. about half way back towards the rear of the truck in the place of the second plug. kind of close to the exhaust if you ask me. but this is where the instructions say to put it. I called quad and they said it is fine and that all was done right so I am happy but if yall have any info on better options or opinions on what I have now let me know. thanks.

Ok, sounds like its in the Test port.
Did you have a sender for the Bully Dog one?

Others here have expressed that the test port is not the best place to get an accurate reading, but may suffice. Evidently in the test port the probe is not in the actual flow of the fluid. I have a Commander that I am about to install and have decided to install a B&M port on the pan and install the probe there. Others install a port on the hot side cooler line to get a max reading of the fluid coming out of the TC. Reading from the pan, or test port, gives the temp of the fluid after it has gone thru the cooler.

It is in the test port and I didnt have a bullydog on my truck before, I had a banks but it didnt have a sender or senor it just monitored the trans temp from the obd2 port in the truck. so I am not sure which one is more accurate the actuall commander sensor in the test port or the banks reading from the obd2 port in the truck?
