New Universal fit Amsoil EaAU Air Filters Available
Here.
A lot smaller than the BHAF and filters very well. They claim it flows better (no hard numbers that I see) and a 4" output version is available. There is a thread over on the TDR about using these for some more information. No oil and cleaned whith shop air. They are built by Donaldson. These could be the ultimate answer to the age old air filter question. I'll probably replace my BHAF at some point with one of these and retain my custom splash guard / air box.

i like the filter media they use, but they are way too small.. the bhaf is a good size under my hood. the largest element they have is like 6"x9"x5" cone. leaves too big a hole

The filter media is the key. If it outflows the cellulose based BHAF and filters as good or better than stock, it's a winner, asthetics aside.
Any Amsoil dealers on here who care to give it a shot at getting the ISO CFM chart for these filters (namely the 4" output one since that's what we'd use and it's their largest).

After using the AFE Stage I and BHAF,I've returned to the stock box with Amsoil's new drop-in. I recently had Smartysw#9 downloaded with EZ installed and under full throtle was unable to pull down the filterminder. Incidentally,Marco's tuner is amazing. Driveability is so enhanced its reminds me of a big block gasser almost. Much wider powerband. I can't wait for the 3rd gen guys to tryout his product. I can really vouch for the Amsoil and Smarty products.

So the way I understand it, this new filter can be used with the stock box? How does that transition take place? The pictures are of a conical filter, the truck has a rectangular drop in filter, so are guys just modding the stock air box?

Guys,
There are two different filter types available from Amsoil. The link I posted and started this thread with was about the newly available conical filters that could be used for a custom air filter setup, not using the restrictive stock air box. They also have the simple oem style panel filters available for using the stock setup. Exactly which years they have those for I don't know but I thought all years, check their website or call them if you want those.

$36.15 at my cost. $47.45 full retail.
The EaAU4090 with the 4" is $46.25 at cost. Remember, even though the physical size of this filter is slightly smaller than the BHAF this filter also breaths through the end cap as well.
