Air Filters: K&N or Amsoil Air Filter

OK, I know I am in for many opinions, but anyone care to comment on which may or may not be the better investment?
Or any other brands?

OK I'll jump in. Since you listed amsoil iI am going to assume that you are talking replacing the filter in the stock box. I have used k&N on many vehicles in the past and even this one. However the seal in the stock box with the k&N was crap (at least on mine). I was going to go with the amsoil and ran across afe. Have purchsed one and feel that the afe filters are better constructed and seal is definitely better than the K&N (here again at least on mine). I have since upgraded to the AFE megacannon or whatever they call it these days and feel that filter is superbly constructed and offers unmatched flow. Can't speak to the amsoil never did use one of their filters but use their fluids throughout the vehicle.
Won't say it flows cooler air than the scotty system and the above references the stock box. Although if I had it to do over again i would use the scotty system with an afe filter.

This would be to replace the filter in the stock box.

AFE as my vote for stock replacement, I may be a little biased tho! .

Quality and seal is far superior to the K&N in my opinion.

Glenn

If you want to stop boulders and small dogs, by all means, use the K&N.
If want your air filtered properly, with excellent flow, go with the Amsoil.

AFE, seems to be gaining ground. I had heard they are ex K&N employeees, that wanted to improve on the product, and had to leave to do so.
My next filter will probably be an AFE.

Anything with oil on it sucks to clean and reoil, price to pay for performance, I guess.
