Gauge Problems!!
Gauge Problems!!
All right I had my ipricol boost and pyrometer gauge put in by a local perfromace shop here around St. Charles area. It took him two days to hook up two gauges and cost me 200 dollars! Well it is the 2 pod gauge holder that goes above your mirror. Well today I am driving down the road and hit a bump and here they all come crashing down all may gauge pod and all. So now I am stuck driving the next 5 miles home holding the gauge pod in one hand and steering wheel in the other. I have called him relentless times where he has not yet returned my phone calls. So looks like I am gonna get stuck fixing it myself. No biggy but I paid an outrageous amount of money to get two gauges put in and he can't even do it right. Well looking on the back it looks like it just slides in and has a piece of velco tape holding it to the glass?? Is that right? I mean no way velcro strip is gonna hold that up there. So is there any way I can solve this thing so I can drive down the road and not have to worry about hitting a bump and loosing my gauges? Is there some special addhessive double sided tape that will stick to the winshield all year round. Please the guys with these gauges hgelp me out.
I know I saw a post where a guy used some plumbers strap to attach to the pod then he took apart the overhead console and screwed the plumbers strap inside the overhead console.....it looked like a perfect way to do it IMHO...I ditched my overhead because it was hard to see without taking your eyes off the road AND mine kept falling down too..I was going to do the plumbers strap but I decided I wanted to do a mount that was easier for me to see/glace at while going fast....
I have the window tint that goes across the window so if I ever have to remove it I can just pull up the window tint and no problems. It;s not the velcro that isn't working is the tape part of the velcro. On my duster I remember useing super glue on the rear view mirror on my duster I was thinking about using that. I also used super glue on my juice with attitude monitor. So has anybody had good luck with this?

I used to have a tv for a rearview camera that was a rearview while it was off and that hung from the factory mirror. While working in New Mexico it would get hot and fall off. I reinstalled it with two different brands of windshield adhesive a few times and it would never hold. So I built a stainless mount that was 1/2" solid sq. tubing and bolted it through the factory overhead but that proved to bounce too much. Eventually I took it all down and went back to a factory rear view.
My point is you might have trouble with it. The winshield glue probly wont work. I would assume your gauges will be heavier than that thin little mirror/tv was.

Mine fell down 3 days after installed. Put back up ith mirror adhesive been up for 7 mo now. If it falls down again I will put the dash pod on. I don't like the mirror mount and his hard to see, especially 3 gauges. Besides my tranny temp has not worked correctly since I bought it,so would give me a good reason to get rid of it. I just don't know what to think of these diprocal gauges my pyro reads almost 150 degrees lower than my TST or Snow stage 3 display.
