Gauge Install problems
Gauge Install problems
Hello again. I installed (well partially ) my autometer gauges this weekend. I got everything mounted and wired into the pillar then went about hooking up one gauge at a time. First the fuel pressure. I had a speed shop make me some -4an hose with fittings and went from isolator to the rear of the fuel filter. I removed the valve core first. Started truck and nothing. I removed the hose and there was no fuel in it. Then I removed the valve core from the banjo with the Schrader test port and fuel was coming out. My hose end threaded right on there. Started truck and still got nothing. Then the truck started loping real bad so I shut it off. Mistake. I must have gotten air in the line so I ended up cracking the injectors while my FIL turned it over to bleed it. Runs fine now but no fuel pressure. Short story on the pyro is that I put it pre turbo. Drilled and tapped and installed probe. Hooked up wires and started. Needle was at 325 when I took it out of box and never moves when running. I have searched the site thouroughly and found a ton of info. But can't seem to get this right. Any help would be great, Heck, I haven't even started with the tranny temp gauge. Im kind of afraid to. Any ideas?

Thanks

Cole

Re:Gauge Install problems
As far as the fuel gauge you might need to bleed the line up to the gauge. As far as the egt i dont have one but maybe you need to load it in order to see a temp difference.
Re:Gauge Install problems
For the fuel presssure crack the line at thr Isolator until fuel comes out wait then do it again then once more . Should work after that.
Pyro, Make sure you have power+ and a good ground, not just power to the lights. The pyro has 2 power sources. Also make sure your probe is deep enough into the manifold. Go for tip to aprox center.
Danny
Re:Gauge Install problems
The fuel pressure gauge might need to have a ground added. My brother's fuel gauge would not read correct until a ground wire was run from the neg. battery post. If the EGT gauge was reading 325 before install, then installed and no change, then I would suspect a bad gauge. If you heat the probe with a propane torch, it should change temperature quickly.
John

Thanks for the info guys. I will try the pressure gauge trick in the morning. For the pyro, I tapped fuse #5 for the lights for all my gauges ( and I'm proud to say that ONLY the lights work but they look cool ) and I tapped #16 spare for the power to the pyro with grounds for all to the dash frame. I will pull the probe and heat her up with a torch in the morning and see if it helps. Or send the gauge back.

Thanks again

Cole
Re:Gauge Install problems
Why does you pyro need power. Mine has 2 wires yellow and red hook em both to the probe now power required. The lights in the gauges are all that requires power with my gagues.
Re:Gauge Install problems
I have installed 3 Isspro and 1 Autometer pyro gauges The first 2 sets (Isspro) did not have an amplifier box. The 3rd Isspro set did have an amp box which required running power to amp box.
John

Re:Gauge Install problems
The pyro needed to have the power for the amp hooked up prior to hooking the thermocouple up. It zeroed out and works like a charm now. As for the FP-- my lift pump was putting out absolutely zero psi. It has since been relieved of duty.

Thanks a 3/4ton for all of the help guys.

Cole
