Question SOUTH BEND OFEK Installed

Good day,
A little dilemma that has me more than paranoid

Just had a shop do the whole nine yards with a SB OFE and a SB flywheel, Fr & Rr seals on tranny, the brass syncro's have normal wear, nothing too bad.
Flushed all fluids with amsoil, even filled gearbox with just under 6.5 ltr of Amsoil Syncromesh 5W30
The clutch is holding stock power so far, pedal pressure feels stockish & engagement is almost stock too.

All is well except, there is a continuous chatter sorta sound at idle when the clutch is out. Soon as i depress the clutch, its gone. Is this normal ? No big deal though.

Heres the real problem: 4th, 5th and 6th gear, right after i am done shifting and start to accelerate, there is very strange chatter/shudder or should i call it a vibration like sound that comes from where the tranny is.
Actually, it sounds like some serious lugging just louder.
this noise peaks between 1300 - 1850 RPM and then around 2000-2100 RPM, noise is down and then not audible.

I have driven 650 kms (400 Miles) since the clutch was installed. Around 200Kms (125 Mi) of it was city, stop and go

My mechanic friend who does not have a large enough lift sent my vehicle to this transmission shop owned by 35yr experienced transmission veteran, also the mechanics friend and transmission contact
He installed it, test drove it and delivered it, i had a chat with him and was confirmed all was well.
They say i need to let it break in. Is this normal ?, should i continue to drive like my grandmother ?
I cant wait to turn my Smarty on

Honestly, very sorry for the long post but i waited a long time and tore my pocket book to bits to have all this done.
CANNOT AFFORD anything to do with the tranny any time soon

Thank you all very much

What you describe sounds like normal gear chatter to me. Can you take a video and post it?

My OFE wouldn't fully release when I first put it in, it's great now, just took a few miles to break it in.

I replaced my DM flywheel with a solid one, the gear noise took a little getting used to, the noise you're describing sounds normal to me but you never had a DM flywheel so I can't figure why you'd be getting more noise now..?

Just had the OFE installed in mine. It does it too...I think it's just the nature of the beast.

Yes, thats why i little more puzzled as i always had a solid flywheel but if all is normal, the reason why i never heard this before could be because when i bought the truck, the clutch was on its last legs and the little bearing rattle when i turned the truck off was always present

but if it wasnt releasing:
Wouldnt the sound come thru all gears ? little grind while shifting ?

Dont get me wrong, i am not doubting their product or i would have never bought it.
I am just hoping there is no problem and Peter will chime in soon . It's hard to find the time to drive to Edmonton on our famous death highway to get something fixed

I knew mine wasn't releasing cuz it was hard to get into gear, could feel things spinning inside.
Call Peter, let us know what he says.

I couldn't hear any gear noise when you were driving, heard some at idle but didn't seam too bad, hard to tell though.

BTW, your exhaust sure sounds nice, what you running?

Will call Peter tomorrow for sure.

Thanks
Stock stainless exhaust, its the intake thats doing the trick. Amsoil filter, 5 inch toilet flange, turbo silencer ring delete and deleted those plates inside the inlet tube.

The chatter in N is normal. I was warned about it before I bought mine.

On the phone with Peter as i type: he completed my sentence even before i could explain. The noise is due to the disk design which is made as such so it's difficult to tear it apart

His suggestion: shift at higher rpm, transmission and truck will love it.
the chatter in N is normal. Both the noise and chatter will quieten down a little with time but by then i will have learned to ignore it.

So now its time to smoke some rice.

I have to add though: As others above said : Anytime you have a related issue, call Peter. Untill you call, It's hard to believe how someone can be so well versed, calm and explanatory that one phone call makes you feel at ease.
NOW THAT'S CUSTOMER SERVICE
Cheers South Bend
