Hoping someone can tell me, this is normal with the dual disk Southbend OFEK with hyd. clutch kit. Had to get rid of the DMF! The 05 kit was installed two years ago about 25000 miles and just started making a squeal or chirping sound when the clutch is released as you start to take off in second gear. The 06 has made this noise almost since day one. Heat definitely makes it more noticeable in the summer. Also they do not make this sound every time that is why I am thinking it is because of the dual disk style and will only squeal when conditions are right. Both trucks were broke in properly. New hydraulics and throwout bearing were installed which came with the kit. The 05 G56 was completely rebuilt at a local mopar dealer if it make a difference. The squeal will only happen in 2nd gear when taking off not pulling anything or loaded dosent seem to matter. Power level of tuners do not affect. These trucks never tow anything over 3 or 4 tons. The 06 has around 5000 miles on it since the kit was installed and I noticed the squeal within the first week. I have heard these noises are common for a dual disk clutch Just wondering if anyone else has ran into this or know what the cause is? Thanks Jereme

05 125000 miles at install now around 150000 miles
06 60000 miles at install now around 66000 miles

 

All three of my dual disc clutches have done this from time to time. Now that I think about it, it was mostly when they were newer. My G56 hasn't done it in a long time, but it would do it from time to time and then quiet down for another several months. When I took my clutch out of my 12 with the NV4500, it was normal wear and no scorching on the pressure plate/floater plate/flywheel. That was when I swapped in the G56.

I had the same thing happen with my 06 when I put it in. It really annoyed me. Finally I took it back to my friends shop and they took a look at it again. One of the ceramic buttons was smaller than the rest and was casuing the disc to flex. Put a new one in.... but still made the same noise. Here is my thread....
