05 Ram 2x4 3500, no front suspension travel

i have a 2005 ram dually 2x4 and its share of abuse, curbs, ditches, pot holes, workin on the ranch, normal dually abuse, since im not the only one that drives it, but anyways, both front bump stops are exploded and the drivers side has enough clearence to just fit my finger between the bumpstop and the "stop" so less the 3/4in of suspension travel, and did i mention theres a 300lb ranchhand bumper off a f450 i stuck on the front, i was thinking a leveling kit would get me back to stock height, or maby cut down used front 4x4 coils (no idea about that), or what about air ride shock to raise the front back up how ever much? trying to keep cost as low as i can, and ill do it in my driveway
any ideas are greatly appreciated,
thanks

I have a 04.5 2500 2wd. Same kind of symptoms you have. Added Daystar 2.5" spacers up front, and 2" lift blocks in rear. Helped tremendously. Be sure to go ahead and get ball joints and control arm bushings (if needed), sway bar end links, and sway bar bushings up front while everything is apart. Also will require new front/rear shocks. You may not need longer shocks, but will last longer if they don't try to over extend due to the lift.

I went with the Daystar 1.5" lift for the same reason. Can use the stock length shocks.

A guy in my neighborhood mounted a cabover on his 2005 2x4 Mega. It appears he's in your situation also. I would think National Spring or Deaver could supply a longer heavier front coil for you guys.

IMHO spacers doen't address the problem at hand - the spring is compressed. I would look to new coils.

I second this. Address the problem and make it right. Get new coils with a higher load rating, due to the heavy bumper.
And be patient. Not everyone has an answer for everything, nor do they see every post. Plus, it's summer- people are gone. Sarcasm won't get you far when you want free help and advice.

While the 2003+ Dodge 2wd 2500/3500 front suspension is excellent, the front springs are weak from the factory.

Years ago I found a 2009 2wd Mega-Cab Cummins dually at a dealer lot.
This configuration should have the heaviest front coil springs from the factory.
I took measurements off the front coils and found they were thicker than mine.
Went to dealer with the VIN number off the Mega-cab and ordered them up, about $300 for the pair if I recall.

So the coils show up and they end up being exactly the same as the coils in my truck. Luckily I took measurements right at the dealer counter before I paid for them.

Another option I have found is: http://www.supersprings.com/supercoils_fitchart.asp

They show heavy duty front coils SSC21 (3900lbs, 1/2" lift).
I have no experience with these though.

Yeah, that's the exact same rig as my neighbor has. He mounted a 2500# slide-in(despite the warning in the owner's manual) and he's sitting on the bumpstops.

weird i just got a reverse batch of answers, first it was spacers, now its upgrade springs... and spacing compressed springs does work for a lift, i know that, just dont know how crappy it will make my truck ride, with 2-3inch spacers

if i go with new coils whats a good brand, and should i do like 1inch lift coils or what?

so noone likes the idea of air ride shocks in the front, and whats wrong with cutting down 4x4 coil springs? ive seen it on tv alot, but i have no idea

remember this is a 2x4 dually so it has to have a low front, because of heavy gooseneck trailors and all, i cant be looking up when the truck is fully loaded, so any ideas of "leveling" the truck cant be considered

thanks for the advice, im going to lookin into new coil prices, should they be like 1inch lift coils or just stock height?

4x4 springs are completely different and cannot be simply trimmed to work in the 2wd double A-arm front suspension.

I think the Supersprings heavy duty front coils would be perfect for you. They would be heavier plus a 1/2" lift. You could easily add another 1/2" spacer if needed after the springs were installed.

The other option would be to pull one coil and take it to a custom spring place for them to use to build a heavier version.
