Manual high idle

How do you activate the manual high idle and to you have to have the current reflash?

On automatic transmission trucks, once the high idle is enabled by the dealer, you control it by using the cruise control functions on the steering wheel.

I don't believe the "current reflash" has anything to do with enabling the high idle feature - 2 separate animals.

You take about a two/two and a half foot long chunk of broom handle, jab it in between the pedal and seat and run the seat forward to your desired idle speed. Of course, you will get finer tuning of the idle speed if you have power seats. From what I've read, you do not need the TSB 18-037-04 flash, the tech just needs to enable and then turn on the manual high idle feature. When I tried having my trucks high idle turned on prior to the reflash, the tech had enabled the idle but did not turn it on. And the high idle will not work with the manual tranny trucks, so if you have one you might look at my hill billy high idle stick a tad bit closer.

Thanks,

Too bad it doesn't work with manuals. I thought it would be nice to hide my "ozark tire thumper" out of site from the guys at work when I am warming my truck up in the mornings.

Well I got MY manual high idle to work today.ONE little problem! I used a universal choke pull cable.Minor hole in rt side lower dash, drilled through upper part of fuel pedal linkage etc.hooked it up and it will work with no binding etc.BUT I need a pull cable that will lock! One that if you turn **** to the right will stay locked where you want it. A SMALL cable control that locks on top of that. Not something large.

I believe the only way to get it is with the TSB reflash.

Its not avalable on 03 or below or manual transmissions.I need a cable that locks. What I installed works great if I can come up with a cable that locks at a twist no larger then the unverisal fit hand throttle I came up with.Total cost I have in mine is less then $12.00. BD makes a electronic one.$400.00 and its basicly only a SINGLE speed.Said with another toggle switch in the circuit it could be two speeds.WOW thats nice.

Look in JC Whitney, there is a cable actuator for the front differental that replaces the vacumn actuator. It has the lock you are looking for.

Also try Graingers or Northern. I think I have seen control cables like that in both of their catalogues.
