G56 Seepage

My G56 is seeping out the top passenger side. Not enough to really worry about but gets a little grimy to the touch inbetween oil changes. Not near enough to drip. It USED to do it on the drivers side. That eventually went away. I had the clutch replaced about 4,000 miles ago and I had them ck it and they said it was DRY. No problems. Is there a vent that might be getting some seepage out the top???? Thanks!

IIRC there have been posts about the boot on top of the shifter housing cracking and causing a seep...

A member of one of these sites posted a much sturdier, cheaper replacement boot manufactured for the Moose brand ATV's. Part# M9206801. He stated it fits perfectly.

Thanks. I'll keep an eye on it. When they dropped the trans they said everything was dry. Weird!

That boot is easily torn; Freedom out by you, Roper, tore mine and then wouldn't fess up to it when they replaced my clutch last year.

Hey Gadget! Freedom is out of business. Russ, the head tech opened up his own shop just about a mile away called Maximum Diesels. They are the ones who put it in. I did have some seepage before it was replaced but now its different. Russ is a good guy and I have been talking to him about it.

I know Dan was talkin' about moving to Warshington(yeah, I know, the Redneck spelling) as I was having the Southbend put in. Now it needs to be replaced again...it chattered soon after installation and has been noisy since day one.

The boots easy to tear during a clutch change...happened to mine. Only noticed the problem when I saw what you are seeing (wet trany case). The boot is silicone, I cleaned it with brake cleaner and patched the tear with red RTV, it has held fine for over a year now.
