Head Seepage

Noticed that around the head yes all the way around. there seems to be oil, fuel, something seeping from the head. was wondering if this is normal on a truck with 42k on it. my only performance mods are in my sig. it is going to the dealer on thur. for other non-related issues but i did mention this.

Probabley just a valve cover leaking, wash it off really good, blowdry it & drive it. Remember a small leak at the front will creep to the rear.

I had my 2003 in the shop last week for the same thing at 36,900 miles. They replaced the gaskets on the two piece vavle cover. The tech stated that he has never seen one as bad as mine. I noticed that the oil buildup was worse around cyclinders #4,5, and #6.

Oh by the way, the service manager waived the $100 warranty deductible without me asking him to do so.

Well, he wasn't suppose to charge you, not like he was doing you a favor.

I have this as well. I thought it might just be easy to fix yourself, do they generally need new gaskets or are the bolts just not tightened?

Top cover comes off easy, it has an oring and can be reused. The rocker cover has the gaskets but there are injector wires that need to be removed.
I will continue to just clean mine off in the spring as it only seams to "weep" in the cold weather.

...well lets just say it wasn't designed that way.

But I've seen more than a few of them do it though.

The coolant will eventually stop also. Mine has the crusties around the plugs. If it ain't drippin on the floor I ain't fixin it.
