Drop-in Air Filter Choices?

What brand drop in air filter should I use? As opposed to stock replacement?

I went with the AFE Pro-Guard 7 air filter to replace my OEM one. The OEM one was filthy within 100 miles. AFE has lasted about 3500 miles before needing a cleaning. But that was on a trip down south and driving a few dirt roads, so I don't blame it at all.

So they are along the same line as K&N?
I thought I read that oil'd gauze type filters did not meet filtration specs?
AFE site would not let me see cost, how much do the run?

I have NOT run a K&N filter in my truck. I have in other cars (gas engines) and they worked fine but hear for our turbos, they let in too much dirt. But they are along the same lines as a K&N filter but much better. People have been happy with AFE since it does filter out a lot better and allows the CFM's to continue without a problem for our trucks.

About $80 or so, not sure.

Do a search on this site for AFE and you will find more reading material than you can shake a stick at. Some good, some bad.

Don't quote me on it but I think Amsoil sells a foam filter drop in. Might be worth checking into simply for ease of cleaning and reoiling.

Tru-Flow has a great drop-in filter for our trucks. All foam and makes the turbo sing. I also did the air-box mod as well, swiss cheese. But I now have the AFE stage 1, more air.

I have the airaid drop in. Checked it last week after 5000 miles, and its still very clean. I inspected the filtered side of the airbox, and air chase, and its as clean as can be, no residues, or dust.

My Airaid works great also, checked it a few weeks ago and everything on the filtered side was as clean as it should be.
