Air Intake Choices

Okay, lets say you have now have $500 handed to you to get an air intake kit for your truck. What are the top 3 kits to look at, and what kits do you stay away from (Please tell me why)

Keep in mind the preference should be on filtration rather than flow. If a filter has poor filtration, then who cares how much it flows (which would only let in more dirt anyway)

Well, the first thing youll hear is dont get a K&N, but i like mine, and never find any dust/dirt/oil on the intake tube going to the turbo, and you can tell its flowing a lot of air by listening to the turbo scream when you kick down on it.

I myself was considering the K&N system. However, I wonder if anyone makes a prefilter or some kind of slip on prefilter for the cone filter K&N setups for our trucks? Any info on that would be helpful...

I have an Air-Max on mine and it is great. It uses a K&N and has a heat shield. It also changes some of the intake plumbing. About $300 if I remember right. That was my first bomb.

I have the AirAid and it works really good and the cost is very reasonable at under $250! It is a K&N filter, and I also added the sock.

I ordered it through Central 4 Wheel Drive. However, you can buy them on line here:

I have the aFe Magnum Force standard filter and aFe Torque Tube. Air intake system $310. Torque tube $91.

aFe sell the Pro-Gaurd 7, which is suppose to be better filtration. I just used a pre-filter.

BHAF. It performs very well. Check my gallery for better pics. I put bunches in there from every angle for folks to look at. This thread, page 14, second post from the top, has parts list/instructions. https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...&pagenumber=14 Total cost was about $190, but could be done considerably cheaper if parts can be had locally.

I have the same set up as Big Bob. I bought it from the Dodge dealer where I got my truck. You can use the K&N cleaner and oil on it when you have to clean it.
