I have an interesting vibrations going on and maybe you can help. My trannys works fine, shifts smooth up or down, but when I am in 5 gear, there is a vibration. It is real noticable when you push the shifter outward (2 o'clock). My whole hand actually shakes. Any ideas on what this might be?

Don't know. I usually don't rest my hand on the shifter except during shifting.
I will check it on the way home this evening.

Any tranny guys out there have any idea what could be going on here? Could something be bent? I don't know enough about it. I just want to be more prepared when I go to the dealer. Thanks in advance.

I tried it and did feel a vibration, not bad but noticable. The shifter does shake from the bumps in the road causing the engine/transmission to move around.

I can't also feel the road bumps and engine torque, but this is a constant vib. It just doesn't seem right coming from the tranny.

I get it when I keep my hand on the shifter and hold it in gear a little harder. Just ease off a bit and it will go away. I think all it is that you are forcing the rubber bushing in the shifter and hearing the shifter vibrate with the transmission. Otherwise, the rubber bushing in the shifter will absorb this and you will never hear it. That is my thought on the matter.

I try not to rest my hand on the shifter when I am driving. It feels like there is pressure on the moving parts in the transmission and it could be causing excessive wear. It is a mechanical link from the shifter to the yokes, gears and rails that are in the transmission and I don't like the idea of having rub together at closer tolerances that need be.

hey guys, thanks for the input. I guess I'm a little concerned by the fact there is a vib there. What would cause this? Shouldn't everything in the tranny be smooooooth?
