My brother's truck is grinding when shifting from 3rd to 4th. He has had the fluid changed with a cleaner type to help the syncros. So far that hasn't helped.

What are some options? What will a rebuild cost?

I did a search and some people are talking about parts being hard to find for rebuilds. Is this true?

What fluid did your brother use? It's important to use the right type of fluid in this transmission.

mine was doing the same thing, the synchro's are gone! 01 5600 had a lot of bad ones, my rebuild cost about 2000

 

About 1k for just the synchros, about 2k for synchros and a bearing kit, and about 3200 for a new one!

 

I had my rev. synchro and some other stuff warranteed. The dealer said they really hate working on the nv5600 - they're heavy and hard to work on. I put in RP synchromax a few weeks ago and it's the best I've used. It took a couple weeks to see all the improvement after the change. Craig
