Bought Texas Truck with no preheat
Bought Texas Truck with no preheat
Recently purchased an 06 "Lone Star" and don't see any provision for a block heater or preheat setup. In my area I have experienced -20 and am looking for advise as to whether or not the truck will start without a pre heat. I will add a pan heater anyway but often enough I won't be able to plug in. Any ideas would be appreciated.
It also has grid heaters that come on automatically, they are just below where the intake horn goes into the head.

Thanks for the info. Will buy the plug. On my 01 I had a wait to start light. But this truck doesn't seem to have anything like that. Are you saying that it is automatic with no delay or wait to start light?
The wait to start normally does not come on above 60, and in Texas their is no need usually for pre heat, much less wait to start, get in hit starter it fires right up. Up north is a different story, as stated get the cord installed and u have block heat;;;
The WTS light should come on as a bulb check when you turn the key on, then shut off after a second or so. This is a bulb check, not a preheat cycle. If it's not coming on at all, something else is going on.
The grid heaters won't come on over 55*.

Yes, this is where I seem to have a problem. Bought the cord from Geno's, it's on the way. Grid heater is there and wired but light does not come on with bulb check. I realize the temp needs to be lower than 66 for heater to come on but still think the light (bulb check) only should show which it does not. Thanks again for your inputs.
