Cummins Preheat Coil

Been having a difficult time starting my truck in the mornings, cooling down up here. I have am pretty sure it is the preheat coil that isn't warming up enough. I have one on order
Just wondering if any of you have changed this piece, haven't even looked yet to see where it belongs? I am suspecting the the intake manifold someplace?
Any help would be great thanks
Greg

At the end of the intake horn next to the engine. It is a flat square thing that will have an electrical terminal and cable on it. It fits between the end of the intake horn and rests on top of the intake manifold.

On my '07 5.9 the grid heaters are wired up. The solenoid cycles, etc. The only thing is the heater will not turn on since the factory did not run the ground wire from the grid heater to the manifold. Check yours.
Mines a CA truck, so really don't need it either.

Make sure to order a couple intake gaskets because they will not be re-usable.

I've found out that my heater does work. The system grounds through the housing of the grid heater. Today it was cool enough to retest operation.
Thanks.

They changed the gasket design so the ground wire is not necessary.
