No drive from trans, solenoids?
No drive from trans, solenoids?
So my truck has been doing a funny upshift/downshift dance to OD ever since I got it. I figured it was the solenoids. Now it doesn't have any drive at all once it warms up.
It got worse yesterday after I left it idling in park for almost 2hrs on a hot day. When I came out the tranny temps were at 220(according to the Edge) and it had no drive.
It was just in my back field so I shut it down and waited about 5min and when re-started it had drive again. I drove it down the driveway and after about 1/2mile it had no drive again. Not slipping, but nothing, like it was in N. I shut it down and restarted it and was able to drive it back to the house. As it was still pretty hot I shut it down and left it for the day.
Today I took it out to get the mail today, about 5-6kms. Got the mail ok, did some hard accelerations and everything was fine till I got upto speed on the highway and noticed it wouldn't shift into OD. Then when I went to exit the highway, as I went to reapply the fuel after making my turn there was no drive again. I shifted into N, shut down the truck and restarted and I had drive again, for about 50M, did this all the way back home.
So since it seems to pull ok when there is drive I think its an electrical issue that gets worse the hotter the trans gets.
Can someone give a brief explanation to me of what the solenoids do? There are two of them?
Thanks!

Diagram 8W-31-4
There are three solenoids:
Governor Pressure Solenoid
3-4 Solenoid
Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid
There are also two sensors:
Governor Pressure Sensor
Trans Temp Sensor
Suggest to do the first two solenoids and pressure transducer.
Also adjust the bands.
