windshield replacement

Anyone had a windshield replaced lately, Took the 93 to get a replacement, after they knocked it out, they couldnot find a suitable gasket replacement. after waiting all day they had no choice but to reuse the original one. It looks ok but after all these year's , I'm thinking it should be replaced. Anyways, they said they ordered two different ones, and both were way too short. So, does anyone have a part number\vendor for a quality replacement gasket? the windshield fits so many year models, I'm surprised new rubber would not be readily available .....IDK,, maybe just a dodge thing

I bought mine from a dodge dealer in FLA when I did mine. Give them a call. (fit perfect, BTW)

Not available may have just meant- the shop's glass supplier could not supply it same-day.

Never had a problem, but most glass places ***** about me not wanting to reuse an old seal.

This might sound like a stupid question....

Why did they remove the windshield before obtaining a new gasket ?
Looking to buy a lock for the barn before or after the horse gets out ?

they told me they ordered it the day before, but when they went to install it , the seal was too short. they said they double checked there order numbers then had the warehouse send out a second one. which was too short also. there were no more to be had, dealer had none as well. the seal was made by precision (ha ha). according to my glass guy they make a lot of the seals used by all major windshield installers. i checked around and that appears to be the case. I called LMC and they wont disclose manufactures , all they would say was there seal was made in china (big surprise). so it appears dealer is the only way to get a good one. so for these trucks no $30 seals , closer to $150.... next time i'll have one in hand, also may need to get a few more for future, before dealer stops making them. anyway thanks for your help......ahhh to be a first gen parts chaser

FWIW,

I got mine from the dealer. Same one I posted the link to.

The seal, when it arrived from the dealer appeared to be "TOO LONG". When the installer put it in, it really did seem way too long. I stayed and helped him, as it's a local (on the road) guy and not one of these big chain installers. I reused my old glass. He didn't cut the excess, he massaged it into place, which I thought was weird. I'm glad he did. It's never leaked, and most likely due to his 35 years experience of doing windshields may have something to do with it. he just kept working it into place, and eventually all went well.

I hear....

The after market seals can be problematic with new windshields, from what I've read. Problem is glass thickness. OEM, vs New. Apparently the new windshields are thinner, and the seals need to absorb this issue. not sure if / what this all means for you, but I just thought I'd throw it out there.

That is the reason I didn't want to order new glass.
The new glass is thinner and might not seal as well... It also more prone to cracking.
I re-used my OEM gasket and used an original Mopar windshield I had been saving to install on Poncho last summer.
I brought my truck down with my nice used windshield to a local guy, $40 later I had a leak free set up.
