I called an outfit in Michigan that specializes in spinners, hubcaps and trim rings for classic cars and after the guy stopped laughing at me, he said that he has been in business for 35 years and had never seen one of those come across the counter…Mark Heck, I have three of them, it’s a drag because if I sell them, I then have none and one is impossible to find. I’m sure that there are others in the same situation…one other thing, I just paid 900 bucks for possibly the last two new disk brake rotors that fit the Olds. They are from a 1968 caddy ElDorado and are milled to fit the Toro. Those Eldorado rotors now don’t exist. Then on top of that I had to have a tool made to remove the front wheel bearings at 450 bucks. I’m going to use it twice. The factory tool no longer exists.
I started the old hoopti up and drove to Sonic for my daily Double Cheeseburger. Started on the first touch of the key like always. It has been sitting for a couple of months. Needs washing.
Last weekend, my daughter and I hopped in the '92 W250 I bought off nonrev a few years ago and took it on a 10 HR trip to Ct to deal with some family stuff.
The truck drove well on the trip, but it sure is nice to be back in Vt.
I have been cleaning up and parking a couple of my cleanest 1st gens in the shop for the winter. I at least got the major dirt off them with a quick hose down with the pressure washer.
Several of them have small "to do lists" I stuck on the dash. It is good to have a few thing to do over the winter.
Spent the last couple of days getting my 90 "plow truck" ready for the year. new seal in the output shaft off the transfer case, complete grease job and lots of welding on the plow mount ... I'm ready
Lotta work finished yesterday. started a few days ago on my 90 cummins completely pulled and cleaned heater box, flushed heat and ac cores had to put a speedy sleeve on dana yoke AND my radio which has not worked in 20 years came to life with a new fuse. The old fuse looked perfect till I checked continuity.Dead. Fixed a leak on the a/c at the firewall bulkhead so recharge next.Put all new door panel clips on passenger door because idiot stepson keeps yanking it closed way to hard.A couple months ago I put in a matching pattern new take out(1989) seat.In the spring hopefully new paint and carpet.

You need to do the door stiffened upgrade on these trucks. Worth the effort.

I've had XM Radio almost 20 years...I've never had it tuned to any other channel other than 148, Radio Classics...At any speed over about 45 MPH the highway harmony takes over, and I journey on in pleasant bliss......Ben
Today, I finally gave into the task of swapping out the water pump which started to seep some few months back. Turned into this:
Water pump
Alternator
Upper hose
Lower hose
Thermostat
Belt
Belt tensioner
Re-torque TC and OIL filter housing bolts to 18 ft lbs
De rust patches on the TC cover
Clean grounds
Flush radiator
So, I'm obviously not done. Maybe by tuesday when the alternator arrives.
