Did you try method of just hitting it with a rock....worked on mine for over 6 months. I picked up a couple used spares off E-bay years ago when i saw them on there super cheap, used one to replace the aforementioned unit and still have one spare.

I couldn't hit it with a rock. That only works with Canadian rocks and there weren't any to be found here
Well towed home a jeep liberty to take daily duties from the truck once I get it road legal. Then I get to park the truck for winter and start the list of winter maintenance items I want to take care of. Which now apparently includes rear pinion seal, just when I thought I was done with the rear end for awhile..

Check to make sure the axle vent and tube is clear, before you swap out the pinion seal.
I have found that it be the actual, real cause of the issue many, many times.

Great advice. I clean my axle vent out every 3 years or,so. Its amazing how fast they goop up.
Never has,mine,been,blocked, but they do look like a partially clogged artery

Cleaned it this spring but still worth looking at a again.

I've got a 2005 Jeep Liberty (KJ) common rail diesel. It's waiting on me to finish the head gasket install. My deadline was fall break, now it is Thanksgiving and hoping I'll have it together by my daughter's graduation in Dec... That fulltime/parttime 4x4 system is amazing. Impressed me in a blizzard/ice storm 2 winters ago.

Yeah I had a friend whos dad had a KJ Diesel. Thought it was cool but I didn't have the time or desire to seek one out. The one I brought home only need a radiator and core support, plus the brakes feel like they need bled or something. It is surprisingly clean for being an 05 with 132k on it. Hoping to get enough years out of it to build a 12valve family hauler.
