What did you do to your Gen 1 today?
Then I would have to clean it off.....
Ha! Thanks man. It was my first attempt at "building" a bumper. Cobbling is a better term, it was a cold weather project from stuff I had laying around. If I do another one I'll get the metal shop to bend more of the parts vs welding scrap iron together.

You can cobble shoes or you can cobble fruit which I like eating a whole lot better than shoes.
Well today is the first day I can say I honestly feel better. I finally got an appointment with my nephrologist who took about 10 minutes to figure out that I was retaining fluid. I estimate 9 liters worth. He started me on Lasix to drain it off and now I can breathe.
If you all want it I'll show you a picture of my incision.

Thanks guys.
I need to post up some more pics on my build link, I keep whittling away at it to make it more fun to drive, and keep the old school look.
NJT, I am not trying to induce "truck envy", too bad I could't have made it Saturday at Carlisle. We should coordinate better next year.

Got a bunch of stuff done on the truck last night.
I was going to rebuild the steering coupler since it was getting bad and I had over 45* movement in the steering wheel before it would affect the tires, but I was out looking at the parts truck and it had a steering shaft with a large U-joint so decided to clean it up and use that one instead. I also installed the new drag link.

Also since it's been 5 years and over 100K km's I wanted to change my tranny fluid and filter. I run one of those string filters that sit inside a housing on the RH PTO location....works very well.

A comment by Oliver stuck in my head that he runs the same fluid in the NV4500 and NP205...which makes some sense to me.
So decide to also drain my transfer case and move the older Castrol Syntorque from the tranny into the TC.

Hey Tman.
Wow,
I never thought of doing this,
I have been going to pull my fuel sender for a few years now but I never got around to dropping my tank.
Next time you have a chance could you get me the dimensions of where you cut the access panel over the fuel tank.
Also how did you make your cuts? angle grinder or a sawzall, I am thinking the least amount of sparks would be good.
Do you know if I can use a gas sender and delete the fuel pump; is the gauge sender the same?
How much room is there between the bed and the top of the fuel tank?
Thanks Tman, hope all is going well.
Jim

I'll measure and get back to you.
Angle grinder with a thin kerf blade. I used a welding blanket over the top of the tank and sending unit, preventing sparks from direct contact. Zero issue, as you're cutting from above, so most of the sparks are drawn up by the blade while it spins. I welded flanges to the piece I cut out so I was able to screw it back in after, for reuse.
Not sure about the gasser sending unit. I think researching that could prove quite valuable to our trucks longevity. Oliver had what I needed, so I just bought the reservoir from him. I was thinking on buying a gasser unit just for comparison. May do just that. They're not that much money, and I can't imagine they wouldn't function albeit the 6 gallon rule may not apply to gasser senders.
You have about 2 to 3 inches between. Plenty of room to work . I used a heavy magnet to reset the panel. Stick the magnet on the panel, screw it in, and when it's all bolted up, pull the magnet. Edwin gave me that idea. I believe.
Again, will get back with exact measurements once I get all the debris out of the bed. It's 98* f here today, and I'm beat from working in this stupid southern weather that's invaded us.
I love it. Spent my day scrubbing the vinyl siding on my house, hauled scrap iron, stacked wood, drank beer, and didn't have to shovel or plow the heat out of my way. I even took my Challenger for a ride because they don't spread salt to combat the heat. BEST DAY EVER!!!
