I will have to take my 92 W250 on the ~700 mile round trip to recover the W250 rolling chassis that I will be using as a parts donor or is the truck I am driving the donor?? I have owned this truck for 1.5 years and I have never driven it more than 50 miles away from home, so to quote Cap'n Ron "If anything is going to happen, its going to happen out there"
So in preparation for the trip I have done the following:
-Changed the engine oil/filter.
-Flushed the brake system.
-Changed the transmission oil/filter.
-Dropped the fuel tank and cleaned out the crud in preparation for a Vulcan Drawstraw 1-2. (awaiting arrival of part)
-Replaced the lift pump.
-Replaced spliced/hacked up original nylon supply fuel line with 3/8" Gates diesel rated hose.
-Pulled the Door Panels and lubricated the Power Window mechanisms.
-Replaced a questionable looking Cooling system hose. (little 90 deg puppy for the transmission oil cooler)
-Chassis lube.
-Changed the gear oil in the differentials and transfer case.

Still need to change the serp belt then wash her and she should be ready to roll.

You taking any spares? I keep an extra fuel filter just in case. Plus, I have all my old hoses and belts as a backup. Instead of throwing them away I have an old canvas tool bag and stowed them in there as backup.

What did you refill the transfer case with?

Since I washed the truck Sunday it rained here just enough to put spots on the windshield. So glad I could help the plants and grass!

I don't have any old hoses, but I will be taking the old serp belt, a roll of gorilla tape, wire ties, bailing wire and a bunch of tools.

I refilled it with 90W Gear Oil.

Owned my truck for just over a year and have of course done things here and there too it but never gave it a second though about hitching up the toy hauler and going on a 2,100 mile round trip to Yellowstone.

Brought all kinds of extra tools and fluids and didn't use any of it.

I washed my truck early this AM for the National Night Out party and waiting in the lineup for the procession, it got ugly out and started raining, I had been idling for about 45 minutes with the AC on to stay cool, it was over 100* out and raining.

Started the several mile long cruise between an ANF fire truck and an undercover car.
Truck got lots of waves and thumbs up.

Have to pull some pictures off my onboard cameras.

I've always been a big advocate for having as much as you can carry, for those "just in case" moments. When traveling out of town for work, I've been crazy enough to carry a spare master cylinder, water pump, and belt tensioner assembly. Extra belts is without a doubt a must carry, especially the belt that bypasses the A/C compressor pulley in case your compressor fails.
Carrying spare parts without the tools required to install them does you no good, so carry enough tools to repair anything should the need arise. With that master cylinder I carried, I made sure to also carry a jar with vynil tubing just in case I did need to replace it and do the bleed process. This also meant I carried a quart of new brake fluid.
It's funny, but my son growing up has watched me get us out of a pickle twice, by having the spare parts and tools on hand, while being out in the woods for a hunting trip. Now that he's older, I look in his Subaru and I see that he, too, has started to carry items to get him out of a jam, as he likes to go off hiking in the woods taking pictures.

I love the look of the new truck there, first genW250.
How did you solve the secondary hood latch issue as the intercooler? It looks super close to the top of the core support with that custom I/C.
I had to cut down and re weld my latch to the point , on my black crew cab, where I need a flat pry bar to pop the latch after the inside hood latch is pulled.

Are you going to need to find/make a fan shroud or does it stay cool enough?

FirstgenW250, I got a couple of questions. First one, is that a Tim Wuorline intake elbow? Second question, on your Water injection, what size nozzles are you running, and lastly, what boost psi do you have you Snow's controller set at to start spray/full spray?

Thank you!

In 2001 I bought the 91 1/2 for $6,050
and it had 166k on the clock.

Thw crew cab was a gift from my grandmother, and I am scared to know what I have spent on the conversion, but more scared to add up the shopping list I want from LMC.

Checked again today and it appears that either my fuel filter or more likely the fuel heater is leaking fuel. I tried tightening the filter a bit which seemed to make it worse. The heater is wet with fuel also so I think it's the seal needs replacing. It's probably a Cummins part and they're closed weekends so unless Hub Auto has it I get to wait.
