Good day, T: My .02 would be that none of those upgrades would be related to the issue you're seeing and that the FSS is at fault, maybe just a borderline condition related to the cold that is affecting the compromised FSS. Starwheel should be inconsequential, that setting only makes a difference under boost/load, not at idle prior to shut down. I've not experienced it though, sorry.

Thank you Ollie and Papecat. Your diagnosis from hundreds, of not thousands of miles away is correct. I pulled the FSS and wallah, it was going bad. It only lasted 24 years in diesel fuel. Poor design, imo
Lol...
I bought a new one about 7 years ago, and I'm finally able to use It. Anyone.with an original FSS should change it out, as the rubber plunger was falling apart.
Works perfect now

I owe ya a beer.........again!

If I were you I wouldn't go around showing my P***Y on the internet you can get in trouble for that. Or maybe I can get in trouble for pointing that out?

Glad to see you tracked it down T-man. My money was on the FSS going out from what you described.
I hate when parts ONLY last 24 years…

Changed the oil and filter today. Also cut down a 5 gal bucket to fit under the crossmember instead of overflowing my regular catch can.

On a related note while at Walmart getting the oil and mopar filter I opened the filter box like aways to make sure the proper one is inside and the first two were not! I've never had the wrong filter in the box as far as I can remember but the first one was a garbage Fram filter in the mopar box and the second was a ford filter in the mopar box. While both looked like they were comparable no way I'm using them!

Someone swapping filters to get a better filter, at a cheaper price. Good thing you checked.

This is more like "what did I do to my 1st Gen this week". So far I installed boost, pyro, and an aux fuel gauge, Podman's 3 gauge pod, replaced all of the bulbs in the dash gauges, wired and plumbed an aux tank/tool box in the bed, fixed the passenger seat latch and lift strut, removed the headliner for new cloth, started cab light installation, and the list goes on...

[I][QUOTE=NJTman;3317544]Spent the day with the brick making money. I think that's what these things were built originally for, no ?

[B]Sure they were- why else would they come up with a name like mis-spelled SNO COMMANDER. and it really adds to the fact that the heaviest truck with a diesel was never named that.lol

I'm super slow when I clear snow. I don't beat on my machine, or whomp on the plow, so it was a nice relaxing day for me.

Ya, nothing like stopping dead from 30MPH when you 'find' a hidden object to ruin that feeling of accomplishment.

Finally installed the washer nozzels that Oliver sold me. Washers work fine but I discovered my intermittent wipers won't work. Another thread time.

I've seen that in the past, and it's one of the reasons I go so darn slow...

After a couple of months of running with just the electric fans, and the cold cold weather we have been having, I decided to put the fan and shroud back on with my winter fronts.

What I had been noticing is that the temps fluctuate a lot more with no fan running, and it would run from hot to cold depending on air flow and engine load.....never once over heated even when I let it idle for several hours in the -30*C weather....actually was barely keeping warm. With the OEM fan and shroud the temps are rock steady, and I figured having the fan blow warm air around under the hood to warm the other systems can't hurt in -20 to -30*C weather...

Chalk another one up to Ollie in VT.

My Diesel / Kerosene jet heater wasn't working properly, and he suggested that the fuel was bad in the unit.

Well, dumped the fuel out, and took it to the hazardous waste facility, put fresh fuel in. Runs like a champ..

Kudo's to you, Mr. Oliver Foster... If the wife had a baby this year, and it was a girl, I'd name her after you. Seems as though Olivia has taken a tumble to third this year..

You'll have to wait till I get another kitten..

Glad to help T-man. No one likes a jet heater that belches smoke puffs out of it into the work space.

As far as the baby/kitten name goes...Thanks…I think...

As to what I did with my 1st gen today...Looks like I will be shopping for a replacement hydro line for the old plow truck on Mon. as I sprung a leak plowing the fresh foot of snow we got today.
My daughter spied a few spots of red in the fresh snow as we backed up.
I thought one of the auto trans lines had rusted out, so I was happy to see it was an easy to change / cheap plow hydro line.
