Got my timing case buttoned up after doing the KDP along with a fresh front crank seal on the gauntlet project.
Glad to finally start re-assembly.

Did you document the death of the KDP by jotting it down the date with a paint pen on the TC cover? If not, your obviously still not completely done, LOL! Hey, what if you sell or hand off your rig to someone else down the road? They would then know, and it would save them the trouble you had to go thru

Funny you mention this Augie....I was searching through the archives a few weeks ago for something.....??? And I came across an old thread where people were going to Petsmart and buying a custom dog tag with the info engraved on it like "KDP/Jan 2016/250,000miles" then gluing it to the top of the timing case. Seemed like a really neat idea.

I'll see if I can dig up the thread.

Yeah, I use the old trusty paint marker, in yellow. Like I've mentioned in other posts, I was asked one time which tweaker did I buy my truck from, because the observant commenting sees dates, part numbers, who it's purchased from, in yellow ink all under the hood. "That would be me" I say, "Got a problem with it?!" And, this is all after I've logged it down on a maintenance record book!! To each his own I guess. That was good, TC, and Maybe368, it's kinda unique, and I'm just fun in' with ya!
OK, then, Augie Dogie out(I can't stop....)

Whew do i feel better now. I thought i was the only nut out there. I have a "logbook" in every one of my vehicles plus the Wardens ride documents every part swap, performance upgrade, mileage when done, oil/fuel filter change, mpg at every fill up (plus how much of whichever fuel treatment i used), tire rotation or installation. Everything! I feel much better knowing I'm not the only OCD guy out there lol.

I don't have a book, but I keep every receipt and usually mark down when the part was installed, and the mileage at the time.

Last night and today....front end got new bearings/cups and seals...very ugly inside! And the rear diff got new fluid and additive....to stop the major clutch chatter I had going on in my powerloc unit.

Check out pics and info here in my build thread....

Do you crank up you stereo to some particular inspirational music to plow to?

Maybe Ride of the Valkyries?

Usually something like that, too me anyway, I would be playing "go to war" type songs... Xanadu by Olivia Newton John really got me going back in the day, warmin' up the arm on the sidelines before a big game

Well, that depends.

If my shovel monkey wife is with me, no music is played, as her crankee ness will just get annoyed. If I'm alone, I usually listen to smooth jazz 1027 hd2 (HD radio), or metal, or classic rock, such as The Eagles greatest hits, etc.

Don't make it too loud, as I like to hear the blade scrape as its an indicator of hitting something I'm not supposed to..
