I filed a complaint with NHTSA. Hope that works. My local Dealer is trying to find the part in the MOPAR database. They are trying to find one of the new pumps that has been on a shelf since the 90s. Sounds like searching for a needle in a hay stack.

They can surely buy a reman pump from local diesel shops or online. It doesn't have to be a Mopar reman part. They will just have to get their factory rep involved to get the claim paid.

I don't want to sound too sure, but they don't have a choice in the matter. It is a safety recall and they are obligated by law to replace the pump if it qualifies. I just had VW buy back my TDI under the emissions scandal recall and have been involved with this type of thing for 2 years or so now and know more than I care to about it. I bet that the factory, Chrysler, has enough of those pumps to cover the number of vehicles that were affected by the recall and, if they don't, I would go check the pumps on the fully restore rigs that Chrysler execs have ...Mark

They were quite embarrassed when they could not locate me a new fuel heater -- and they volunteered to push a request up the chain at Cummins HQ (Columbus, IN) to see if they could force Fleetguard to manufacture a new batch of First Gen fuel heaters. (Mopar still had them in stock so I declined the offer.)
Cummins can get you an IP in 2017 and they'll still be able to get you one in 2037. The attitude at Chrysler is completely different however...

I would bet that you will have to hire a lawyer to sue Chrysler in order to fix it for you which will take years and cost more than a new pump. Good luck getting Chrysler corporate to do anything. IIRC thier response to Michael Lu'bow was something to the effect that although there is a recall they no longer have the part and their policy prohibits using after market parts. That's the "legal" way of getting out of honoring the recall.
Hopefully the NHTSA will force them to comply but I doubt it.

No not to what ive found our. Unless your truck did this 18 yrs back. Chrysler has never sent the recall cards out on this as a lawyer stated. Ive owned my truck since 1998 and have lived in the same place the whole time. Now im told its a older the 16 yrs and chrysler refuse to honer the recall. The thing is most truck never show this problem tell just before 100k to just after it. So who would know with out the recall card.

Any new part from Bosch would be an updated part so if you would have the pump rebuilt you could have the new part installed at rebuild. it's been to long ago scents I have done any pump repair if Bouch campaigned the part IE when you look up the parts it tells you that part must be replaced at rebuild. But the thing is that these trucks are 30+ years old so most of the techs that worked on these pumps back then have retired. to be sure the part got replaced I would tell the pump shop to replace the part with a new one as most tech will not replace anything that doesn't look bad.
