I have a sticky shut down solenoid, which I'm going to take out. As we know it's a to get at. Anyone have a trick or method to get her out easy? It's cold out today!!

 

Well, first cut that stupid bracket so you have room to swing the wrench. Then take the throttle linkage bracket off the side of the engine to make access easier. Should come out with a little grunting after that.

 

Along the roadside, Iv'e used A hammer and a small punch or chisel, tap the corner of the solenoid to spin it loose. Then you can spin out with your fingers.

 

I did a thread on that a couple of weeks ago because I got stupid and left the rag in the intake above the grid heaters. I think I called it "another day of wrenching" or something like that. I will see if I can find the name. Yep that was it. 1/17/2006

 

I've done lots of wrenching and found that the soleniod was an easy job.

 

crows foot wrench gets it out no problem. But cut your bracket...it does nothing but get in the way.

Cut that bracket in the way . i have used vise grips to get that thingy loose

 

I wouldn't say it was real easy, but it took a little enginuity for me to do it. I don't have a set of crows feet that would fit in there. I had to heat and bend an old wrench. The next one will be easy.
