Question Thermostat housing gasket?

Hey guys, I'm doing a full flush right now and I also have a brand new 180* thermostat, however I cant find the gasket. What would be an acceptable replacement? Thanks.

No substitute for the right gasket. Cummins has it if nobody else does.

A good parts store always supplies a gasket with the new stat. You're shopping in the wrong place. IMHO.

The thermostat doesn't have a flat gasket; it has a thick rubber ring/donut, just like the water-pump.

It is probably hard to find anywhere but at a Cummins dealer.

I gave mine a good washing and reused it; no leaks yet.

I just took a look at Advance.

They offer a

STANT Thermostat Seal

#25287

$4.99

There is no picture of it, so it may be what we need, or not.

If I recall correctly the gasket looks like a short piece of hose. I don't think RTV is the way to go here.

I'd spring for a genuine Cummins thermostat. It will cost you about $30, but they work.

Here is a picture of what it will look like.
Get the real thing.

10-4 guys thanks, I actually do all shoppin at Napa, and they had sent the short rubber hose seal with it, Once I pulled the housing apart thats all there was. I just used a little purple stuff around the edge of the housing, In addition to the rubber gasket and some anti-sieze on the bolts.
