Thermostat housing

Need help guys, I posted this on Dieselram too.<br><br>My 93 crossflow radiator is ordered and will be here Monday. The dimensions matched the 90 in the book. Can anybody tell me the part number for either a 92 or 93 thermostat housing?<br>Will it bolt to the 90 block? I want to avoid the extra turns in the top hose that could cause restriction or rub on stuff.<br><br>Thanks guys.<br>Don

Off the top of my head, I cant think of anything that would need changing. Let me look at my 90 model and compare it to my 92 tommorrow evening and see what I can come up with for you.

Thanks Okie,<br><br>My 90 housing points straight out to the passenger fender. I called the dealer, who said the two housings looked different, but couldn't advise of any numbers that would be useful to Cummins. He didn't &quot;think&quot; he could get the 93, but he &quot;knew&quot; he couldn't get the 90.

thermostat housing part# cummins 3920353. dodge 4638936. if these are no longer available look at a 97 housing not sure but is aimed in the right direction

The guy at Dodge said according to the picture in the book, the 90 and 93 were different, but didn't think he could get one. Is that part number for a 93 then? <br>Thanks, Don.

part# is for 92 model. i am almost positive a 97 will work. someone out there correct me if i am wrong.

Jughead, got your package, ordered parts today. I didn't plan on messing with replacing fan parts (did not order those yet). It didn't say why the fan had to be upgraded. Is there a clearance problem? If so, I'll probably order an electric fan instead.<br><br>Thanks again, Don.

If dealer can't supply, or for price comparison try NAPA or some other jobber. 4 seasons or Everco should have it. I'll check my catalogues.

Picked up the 93 housing/thermo from cummins today. Waiting on the dealer for brackets. 93 hoses should be in at Napa in the morning. Tonight I'm gonna look into an electric fan from Summit.

Have lower brackets made for the radiator. Should be able to start putting everything together tomorrow. Had a bad part number for the thermostat, had to get another. Housing looks like good match.

I would recommend against using an electric fan. When I first put the diesel engine in my Jeep I used an electric fan for simplicity, and it just did not work out well. At low speeds it didn't move enough air through the radiator, and at high speeds it seemed to get in the way -- the car ran cooler with the fan removed than with the fan runnning on the highway. This is not conclusive research, but I would save the $$ on the electric fan and make a shroud to match the original fan if possible. I'm not sure what is required to do that, so this is all pure speculative opinion . . .

Hey guys,<br><br>I concur on the elec. fan. Reading manuf websites advises to only use to supplement heavy duty applications. I'm certain I can modify my shroud and I have everything ready to go together, but everything is on hold for the moment. Couple surgery's in the family. When I get it together and make a test run, I plan to post the results and part# w/ prices. Thanks for the help guys.<br>Don
