I found my 2nd gear bandstrut in my pan, now I got everything back in place, but the apply piston seems stuck, isn't that suppose to move freely when the valvebody is of?
And how do I get it to if it should??
Hope you can help.

The spring returns the servo to the non applied position. You have to compress the cover slightly, which will have spring pressure on it so it doesn't easily compress, and remove the snap ring holding the cover. Then if you're lucky the cover will pop out but most times the seal ring is holding it so you'll need to compress it and let it pop quickly, maybe several times before it will pop out.
When I overhaul these transmissions, I always replace the intermediate and reverse servos with the Super Hold servos. They can be purchased through trans re builders or even Fleabay.

That servo pictured sells on moparts in the trans for sale section. I bought both the kickdown and reverse servo. They are beautiful pieces at $208 for both with shipping. Delivered fast too.
Well, maybe I just had a brainfart.
If that piston is springloaded to the non apply position, that would explain why it couldn't move up...it's already there
.
Gonna try with compressed air tomorrow, like in the video patdaly posted in the 2nd gen section, then we'll see.

Finally got my tranny put together, the piston was working fine with the compressed air, so I put everything back in place and it works...kinda.
It shifts fine from 1st to 2nd, but it is reeeeaaally soft, I was expecting something more grabby now that I got that band to sit right?
I did get my 2nd manual gear back, and that's another thing I don't understand, if that band gives me 2nd manual, shouldn't it give me 2nd in auto...then why did I have 2nd auto without the band and not 2nd manual???
Anyway, it drives, and it's not leaking, that's definately an improvement.
And the soft shifting I guess it could be that I somehow goofed the TV-cable up, wouldn't that give me that soft shift?
Thank you for helping me out.

2nd gear is that band applied whether it's manual or auto, there is no other 2nd gear. If it's not there though the trans will shift straight to 3rd.
As for the soft shift it could be several things, how did you adjust the band? The throttle cable adjustment could also affect it.

I adjusted the band the best I could, I tightened it up with a little wrench, then backed it off 1 7/8th turn, I didn't have a socket for the torquewrench, hence the little wrench.
On my way home from work today, I noticed that maybe it's not soft shifts, but early shifts, it shifts way sooner than it did before, that would explain why it feels soft I think.
I'm thinking it might be a good idea to read up on that TV-cable adjustment, that would be the easy fix.
Right now I'm just happy I didn't break anything
