Angry power steering?

(sorry if this has been asked a thousand times i am a new member)

I have a power steering leak and was wondering if any one has part #s for new seals. I have tried the lucas power steering stuff 3 times and it slowed the leak but it still is leaking and i would like it fixed. One more thing how hard is it to replace the seals?

thanks, joe

I asked the same thing about a week ago with some good replys. The best reply though was just add 15w40 to it instead of PS fluid. So far so good. And mine was pooring fluid out before too, now its maybe a drop or two a day.

What seals are leaking? The input shaft to the steering box is often the case, it is a fairly simple fix. Details should be available via a search.

There is a seal "kit" available. I remember it containing a seal and a snap ring and possibly other small parts. Hardest part is getting the old seal out. Some have had good luck by screwing a drywall screw into the seal for a handle to pry it out. Try to find a way to support the steering box shaft when you drive out the roll pin, so you dont bend the shaft.

I went out to the shop and got my kit that hasn't installed itself on my truck. I got it at a local parts store, Powercraft brand, part number 8525. It contains a seal, a dust seal, a snap ring and a large O-ring (I'm not sure what the O-ring fits). Hope this helps and you can cross reference this number.

the reason for the truck being 400.00 is because the guy thought the inj. pump was bad. it was the fuel fillter the guy had bought it resantly and new nothing about diesels. that is why it was 400.00 good deal huh.
