Well Any engine will take a moment to get oil pressure. Add to that our stock gauges are pretty slow to react and it looks REAL slow.

true i am lookin for the link for you i found this device the other day that is an electric h/p oil pump when you turn the key the light comes on so dose the pump takes oil from the bottom pumps it up top (takes 6 sec) and your all (pre lubed) but i think it was like $650.00 so unless your REALY worried bout it i wouldn't do anything!!

If your going to rig a kill switch just put a pull cable on your pump. Leave the pull cable pulled out and turn the engine over till pressure builds. But your next problem will be replacing the starter more often. Good luck in your quest for oil pressure before starting.

I was going to say the same thing, but for trucks that still had the shutoff solenoid.

You could install a switch to keep it turned off, crank the truck for 5 seconds, turn switch on, then start the truck.

If you're using good oil there should be plenty of residue all along the inside to keep things lubed for the first revolutions of a startup. The oil pump is gear driven so as soon as the motor turns over it has oil pumping through itself.

Plus, think of all the Cummins' that have gone over a million miles. I dont think all the years of "dry-starting" has hindered them at all.

Also, those pre-oilers that cost an arm and a leg are really intended for vehicles that sit for long periods of time like lets say and RV or a seasonal tractor.
