Question Oil pressure ?

Folks, does anyone have numbers on what their oil pressures are cold/hot, and at idle/mid-throttle/WOT? I have 155k on my engine and I got a master gauge from my teacher at school to see what I'm making. My pressure gauge is reading a little funny and I want to figure whether it's the gauge or the sending unit. But I need numbers to see if what I get is about where it should be.
Thanks in advance,
Keran

Warm at idle should be about 22psi or so.

The oil sender on these engines are a common part to fail and are easy to replace.

From the Cummins manual: 10 psi idle minimum, 30psi rated minimum, 70 psi rated maximum. Rated = max governed RPM under load. All these are speced hot, most of these engines will peg a 100 PSI gauge cold.

Thank you Wanna and Mr. Lane!!! I'm kind of thinking it's the sending unit, but it's always good to know exactly where I'm at.

Just an update on this. I finally found the time to hook the master gauge up, (I put the NPT fitting at the top of the filter pad.) I was wondering if I would get a different reading at the sender unit, so if I have the time tomorrow I'll try that. Theoretically I won't, but I assume nothing!
So, cold I got 55 psi at idle, 75 psi at around 2k rpm, (I don't have a tach.) I took it for a quick spin while not at operating temp, and got 50 psi under a light load 'til I hit the highway. At WOT I got 70 psi. Took her home and idled at 45 psi, just under normal operating temp.
I am very happy, as this gives me a good indication of bearing wear, (or lack of it in my case!) Still, my sending unit is bad, but I'm going to get a real pressure gauge at some stage anyway, so as long as I keep an eye on my oil level I think I'll be ok.
Thanks again for the help folks!
