OD Questions

If I have my OD controlled by a switch, would a bad temp sensor or the VSS prevent OD from engaging?

A while ago I put a Mag DD trans pan on, since then it refuses to shift into OD. I checked the power and ground to the switch, both are good but still no overdrive. Any ideas?

If it is a switch straight to the OD solenoid, you should have total control and be able engage OD any time the trans is in 3rd.

Can anyone tell us how to wire up a switch like this?

Splice into the wire at the OD plug that isn't blue, run that wire through a switch to ground.

The blue wire supplies power any time the key is on, grounding the other wire when the trans is in 3rd will engage OD.

It turned out to be OD solenoid, some of the insulation on the power wire was missing and it was shorting against the valvebody.

This seems easy. I am gonna go try it as a previous owner cut and spliced wires and made a mess of it. So I will just run switched power to the blue wire and run a switch on the other wire to ground. Hopefully thats all that is wrong with it

Thanks!
