why grind it when you can remove it completely, I have heard... it will only be affecting your low boost fueling, just more smoke, but when the turbo lights the whole afc foot etc is on a vacation anyway from what I understand, so during towing, even cruise you won't notice a difference.

How light are we talking? The problem with grinding the AFC lever (or removing it entirely) in a towing application is that you can get full fuel with zero boost. This means heavy smoke and high EGT at low RPM - not towing friendly. I consider this to be a "play truck" mod. You could get away with 5k or so, any more and it's going to be difficult to drive, you'll have to play the old "egg under the pedal" mind game with yourself the whole time.
PapeCAT- The ground lever will give even more fuel at zero boost than the stock lever gives at full boost. This is why it's bad for tow rigs.

If you have emissions testing I would not do it.
other wise I would. I have an old smokey power pin, PODs and a ground foot. Just watch your EGTs. With all these mods you need to consider a bigger turbo and bigger air charge cooler.
