Thumbs down Engine chuggin at idle in gear.

This problem has been with me for a long time( since I have had the truck but has gotten worse) and now that the trans is tightened up its a little more noticeable.
I checked crank end play when the flex plate was off and there was no movement.

There are 2 problems 1 is chugging in gear at a idle. The engine is surging if that's a better term. Rpm is not to low, if anything its a little to high to try a compesate. Also I'm getting a resonance that is vibrating every thing in the truck, panels , seat belts you name it. Right as im coming up to a stop its rattling everything. Its not a engine miss.

This problem has been there before the injection pump rebuild and the trans rebuild. It was there when I got the truck but has gotten worse, a lot worse also with the 4" exhaust but I garrente its not touching anything. Ive check body mounts and can't find anything touching but thats kind of the resonance that I feel as if the body touches the frame of engine some were. It still seem to eccesive regardless if something is touching and I think the chugging or surging and vibration are related.

Could worn out injectors do this? Or maybe this is timing related. Im going to back off the timing an 1/8 tomorrow at work to see what happens. The vibration seems like uneven cyl balance but it does not feel any different per cyl. What I mean is that it feel like a cyls do it the same. Thats why I think the timing might be to far advanced. Maybe its the opposite and I need to advance it, I really am at a loss.

Any and all help would be great

Thanks
Yuri

You've cracked injector lines and all of them make it run worse?

To get it to lope you'd have to have a LOT of timing, but it's possible. More likely you are getting air in there.

Hey tron, My truck got alot worse with the 4" exhaust. I have the same vibration when i come to a stop also. I am going this morning to put a donaldson mo85171 muffler on it. I will report back. It seems the 4' resonates alot more under the truck. I did not have the problem with only the 4'' from the t-case back, once i went full 4'' it got bad.

I have cracked all the lines and it seems to make it run worse evenly over all cyl's. If there is air coming in some were I can't find it. I have pressurized the tank for to hours and found no leaks. Thanks Wanna

So I backed the timing off an 1/8 and ended up with a miss fire on 1 cyl, consitantly 1 cyl, not a random miss....so that did not work. So I advanced it an 1/8 past were it started from and no miss but very rattly so I set it back to were it was. No idea still.

The one cyl miss seems odd when the timing was retarded an 1/8.

Tron, I got the new motor mounts in and the vibration in the cab has gone down some, but is still there. I guess the only thing left is cab mounts. I think it has something to do with the 4" exhaust because when i had 3" off the down pipe and thru the t-case then to 4" i did not have this vibration. Hope this helps, i am with you man. It gets annoying. Justin

is you exhaust rubbing anything? my truck used to be really bad, the P.O had some exhaust work done and it touched the floor board which rattled the cab really bad, but his easy fix was ear plugs in the door, just put them in before driving
