You've come a long way on this build. I see you've done your homework with saving the front frame sectors to use as drilling guides. Very intuitive, although I'm sure you researched the heck out of this before starting it..

You'll love the 4x4.... and the look as well...



Since you're going 4x4, I hope you're welding up those cowls, as one stupid move like hitting a curb, and the squeaking will drive you nuts !

Yes this site has been great with the knowledge members have added to the collective pool we can dip into.

I can't wait to see how the old girl will look all 4wd'd out....

And Yes I'll be welding up those cracks, and adding a couple plates to help keep the cowl crack monster at bay for a while yet.

Looks great so far, It is going to be one nice truck when you are done. It is pretty cool to watch somebody doing the same thing I am about to do.

Man that would be tough to do the swap with the motor still in place.

That would be my 68 Chrysler Town and Country wagon....Old girl is my daily driver until the crewcab is back together.

I caught the rear fender skirt in the back of that picture as well and wondered what it was.

Thanks...kind of feel bad driving the old girl every day...but do what I have to do.

And any day that the garage door is open has the potential to have Lamb of God, or some other similar band playing....

As far as the swap with the engine in ..... I can't get around that because I had to make the engine crossmember so that's how it goes. I also won't be changing the crossmember the core support mounts to.
I am pretty good at finding the hard way to do things

Really it wont be that bad. I made the crosmember in 3 parts that bolt together. I haven't welded the flanges on yet. the plan is to fit everything up tack it then take it out and weld it. If did everything right I will gain a bit of axle clearance over the stock part. we shall see

 

I love how you can still read the date on that passenger frame rail!!
That's something you don't see in Michigan

 

Cows, that T&C is begging for a 4bt.
There's a '69 Plymouth Sport Satellite Wagon running around this area with a 3.9 and a Getrag in it and he's pulling down 30-33 mpg with the thing, last I heard.

A big ol' C-Barge like that'll take a 4 cylinder with ease and it's within 300 pounds of the weight of a 440.

Would love to see pics of the 69 Satellite wagon....sounds like a cool beast.

The wagon is too nice to modify like that, had 67K original mile son it when I got it...sitting at about 73K now. Maybe down the road if gas prices get too ridiculous....but I'd probably not have the heart to do it.

That's why I have the crewcab with a cummins and a 5 speed.....

 

Tuned right, with 2.76 gears, that ol' big block will probably pull down 17 or so, anyway.
Back in the early '90s I was running a '69 Noo Yawker between here and R&R Salvage (RIP Ron Slobe ) with a 440 and 2.76s and it was pulling 19mpg unloaded, 16mpg with a trailer behind and a 1969 Formula 'S' 440 'Cuda on board.

Sure miss those days.
85 cent gas and I HATED diesels.

OK today I got the rivets all pounded out, and the cross members removed. Took me about 3 hours or so to get all the rivets out....about 20 rivets. Then I had to cut the inner brackets off the main center cross member...would not come out other wise.






And then a good pressure washing and scrubbing with so Simple Green.



Tomorrow I will get some paint on the frame rails...then start measuring and drilling holes to mount the 4wd cross members and brackets. Should have the front diff in by early next week.

Never realized how much work it takes to convert the truck to 4x4. Looks amazing, though ! Love the date code on the side of the framerail. Hopefully, you're going to repaint those letters there....


Looks as though the weather there has been cooperating with your build. What's your average temperature during the day ?


And furthermore..... you guys have the greatest football team EVER !!! I would play touch or tackle with them ANYTIME !
