Cast Intake Elbow?
Sup Guys,
Getting ready to install my Banks intercooler and was wondering what I needed to do to change the cast elbow feeding the engine. Can I use an aftermarket unit for a 94+ or do I have to use the stock 91.5+ unit, I was looking at ATS pt#INT-D-12V-BLACK found at http://www.atsdiesel.com/ATSWebsite/...InManifold.asp . Would this work?

My question is, You bought a banks cooler, and they did not give you the intake adapter? HMM, whats up with that.
A stock first gen intake is 2 1/2" or somewhere close to that.
A stock second gen (94 up) is 3"
I installed a stock second gen intake on my 92, I had to bend the #1 injection line. I did this becuase I installed an 03 intercooler which is 3"
Lets look at the overall picture and see if you have the adapters for the turbo side as well as the intake manifold side.
Let us know whats up.

I'm running a 3rd gen Banks manifold which has a 3.5" opening. It clears everthing with or without the grid heater. I also am running a sweet BIG custom 1st gen intercooler made by Joe Hellmann with 3.5" inlet and outlets.
I think any Banks (except the twin ram) or ATS manifold would clear with very little if any mods.
Sounds like you bought a used intercooler that was'nt complete? When Banks sold the kit it for non-intercooled trucks it would have the intake horn.

yea is snagged a used Banks unit off ebay because I couldnt find a new one. Also I am doing a BD Super B turbo so I will be fabricating the intercooler piping using prefabed U and J mandrel bends as I dont have a bender so I'm not worried about turbo outlet, piping, etc. I just wanted a larger intake that would be set-up to work with an intercooler. Dont know why I didnt think of building that too! I do like that the ATS unit is ready for W/M and gauges though.

Will the banks and the ats manifolds fit under the hood. Like I said earlier it seems like it would be to tall? I could be wrong. I'v been investigating getting one, so if it fits with not cutting or moving of anything I'm gunna get one also.
Thanks Ben
