Cant get my idle down...

So I was tinkerin, and well, I turned up the fuel another turn (2.5 total with the collar still on) ...Went to bring the idle back down and noticed that I backed the screw far enough out to not touch the linkage...nomore adjustment??? I would like for it to idle were it was before, but I would rather not turn down my fuel. Is this something I may have to deal with or is there a solution?

I feel your pain as my idle screw is now worthless, too. The way I see it, my full fuel screw is = to my idle screw!!

Only thing I could think of would be to grind away at the bracket the idle screw threads through or maybe the arm that the idle screw is supposed to touch.

Lengthen the rod that connects the throttle-cable assembly to the IP's bell-crank.

BC847 is correct. Take the throttle linkage off of the injection pump and adjust your idle. Then adjust the linkage to fit back into the pump lever.

for me the idle screw was super ez, i tinked with the linkage a tiny bit, and the "diesel pedal mount" <gas pedal> inside the cab was bent, there should be 2 bolts, try tightening those bolts, made a big diff for me!

Turning the linkage out doesn't always work, my pump is turned up so much that even the the linkage unhooked the idle screw is still not touching. It needs to be reclocked I just havn't got around to doing it.

Some pumps might need to be re-indexed if you have checked throttle travel and for any other obvious problems. Basically if you disconnect the throttle rod and the throttle arm on the VE does not contact the idle screw you will probably have to re-index the pump. To do that remove the nut holding the throttle shaft to the pump. Then carefully lift the throttle shaft up until it comes loose from the pump shaft. Rotate the throttle shaft one notch counter-clockwise put everything together and test.
