Turbo dilema

OK, so at this moment I am 90% done pulling the H1C, (stupid manifold bolts!)
How do I get them things out of there w/o breaking them?????

Also, apperently the WH1C had a custom crossover deal, 3inch setup? the outlet flange was cut off, so I cant mount my 90* to turn for the IC tubing. OK whatever, So I have a H1C with a 12CM W/G exhaust housing, (STUPID BOLTS!)

SO, I attempt to put the compressor side on the WH1C from the H1C. No dice. The WH1C compressor wheel is bigger then the H1C. This brings me to my next question.

Stock factory H1C or not? keep in mind its a 1-ton, arent the 1-tons supposed to have a larger compressor wheel?? What are the wheel measurments for the H1C, and the WH1C supposed to be, 3/4 and 1-ton?
Id simply mount the exhaust housing, BUTTT......

If I can get them bolt out I'll make some sort of custom deal tomarrow when I can get parts so I dont need the stock 90* outlet.

If your H1C is in good shape, can you take the housing and pinwheel off the WH1C and put it on your stock H1C? I dont see why that wouldnt work, unless the backing plates attach differently.

Someone cut the flange off the WH1C? Now I've heard it all.

The H1C housing will not slide over the wheel on the WH1C.
I could put the W housing on the H1 but I have that flange deal to deal with.
I would like to run the WH1C due to NO shaft play what so ever. My H1C is on its last legs. Im acctually quite concerned with the amount of play in the H1C.

Now, I see. Maybe you could find another WH1C housing to put on your good one. Pictures would help, too, to know exactly what we are dealing with on the WH1C.

Take the wheel and housing off the H1C and put it on the WH1C. Threads are backwards, make sure your torque wrench works backward.

I'll end up puttin the wheel and compressor housing on the W. IF I can get them stupid manifold bolt out. They are really holding up progress. I have lots of "liquid Wrench" on em too. I'll get the digital and the Micrometer out n see what the difference's are.

Use a 15mm box wrench and a hammer. A few taps and they'll come loose.

From what I've gathered here and elsewhere, the H1C compressor wheel (not the baby H1C from the non-IC trucks) is a 54mm inducer with an 83mm exducer. I think that applies to all intercooled 1st gens, 1-ton or not. The WH1C, like the HX35, should be a 56mm/83mm wheel.

I used a 15mm 12 point socket on an extension and wobble to come from the bottom and break them loose.

OK, thanks for the info guys. I gotta call my local mack dealer n see if they have the 90* IC boot, n Greg is commin over later before I head to work, n see what we can come up with on those monifold bolts. If them things will come loose I can have the old on off, and W back in an hour, maybe 2.

Heck, I even tried to remove the cartridge on the H1C but only 2 bolts would come loose, I slipped one of the others and said forget it! I guess 338K heated miles has taken there toll. I'll get em come edit or high water!!
even if I need a BFH

OK, I got the W mounted and running. NO, blue permatex dont work, (very well) But it does for a temporary solution.
NOW I have a whole nother issue. HEHEHEHEEHEHEHE
MY IC BOOTS KEEP BLOWING OFF!!!!!!!!

Poor poor me!

Well I had to make a make shift IC boot/elbow for the compressor outlet, and I keep blowing it off of the turbo, but I have it tightened to the point its only happeneing when I mash it in 5th.

And I have the Wastegate blocked off temporarily as I dont have time to find a port to plumb it into, or drill and tap the compressor, I gotta go to work, im already an hour and 15 minutes late.

I did find a Radiator hose to use for my IC elbow, it is flared on one end and has a 45* bend so is slides over the compressor outlet, it DOES NOT however slide over the IC tubing, so with a little enginutiy, I got myself a 1 7/16 or something of the nature to serve as a sleeve to put inside the rad hose to clamp another sleeve (IC boot via Greg) onto that and hold that part of it together, It was originaly blowing off of there.

All in all, I LOVE IT!! When I did mash it for the 3 seconds of pre boot blowing boost, it absolutly screemed!! oh yeah, and instant boost, and a little haze too. I'll post back in the morning folks, I gotta haul butt to work, W/O blowing more boots!! got my 7/16 quick wrench (thank you craftsmen!) handy for quicky road side boot fixin.
