cant get my truck to idle down!

Unhappy cant get my truck to idle down!

just today my truck started idleing high and im not sure why. i havent done anything different and the pump is still set the same and hasnt changed in six months. i have the idle screw all the way out and im not sure what else i can do. anybody have any suggestions. i would really appreciate it

Is the throttle arm touching the idle screw at idle?

well the screw is backed all the way out , so its not touching anything.

Check your linkage for binding. A common spot for them to bind is the bellcrank between the accelerator cable and the throttle rod.

If everything is free, then lengthening the throttle rod will let the truck idle slower.

right on that worked thanks. i had to lengthen it quite a bit and i can notice a slight loss of power. but it isnt idling high anymore . thanks again,Dave

still have the tps inplace? i have seen one truck where it was adjusted wrong and it would not return to idle because the tps was hitting its stop

hey another thing i was wondering is. wen i put the truck in drive and start to accelerate it shifts through all the gears before i hit 20mph. i can manually shift it and all is good just wondering if there is a way to fix it

that would be the T.V. cables. Try adjusting them.

AKA kickdown cable located at th throttle cable and goes down to the trans.
