i have the automatic out of my truck and i was trying to start it without the tranny in the truck, i tried to put a jumper wire across the two wire plug but it still wont start or crank. am i forgeting something else? or is that the wrong plug for the tranny?

Jump the solinod at the starter. Be careful the fan may be against the shroud.
