2wd that looks like a 4wd?

ok fellas i just bought a 1996 cab $ chassis 12v, it's a 2wd but just looking at it you would never know it until you looked inside and seen that there was no transfer case shifter, he guy i bought it off of said the axle was a straight axle and it's got coil springs and control arms just like a 4wd so can you guys explain to me what this means and how hard it would be to make it a 4wd?

Super simple, just put a 4WD front axle ( probably have 4.10 gears, but check ) and add the front driveshaft and a DHD241 Transfer case and shifter.

You even have a fake transfer case under there.........for the PTO drive.

Get a tranny/t-case, front diff and driveshafts, linkages, etc. Should be a bolt on affair. Need some vacuum lines to actuate teh CAD unless you just leave it locked.

Yes, the Cab & Chassis trucks had tube axles under them. I've seen several of them.

It is called a "Dumby" front axle. And it is for the heavy duty cab-n-chassis. I believe they have a higher GVWR then your typical 2WD dually. Have a look at the door sticker. You can pull that front axle, and BOLT in a 4x4 front axle. Just that easy.
