Seems that this roof is the biggest part of the conversion....at least doing it right, and overkill.

I see they/you decided to go with the smooth roof section above the drivers compartment, instead of the recessed RC piece. Wouldn't have flowed well with the raised suburban ribs. Still more amazing work!

I wish my welder could weld like that. I need to invest in a better machine.. my hobart 140 I can't get the right control with the click buttons.

Some nice welds!

Yes the RC piece would of looked out of place I think, this has nice lines to it. The front of the suburban roof is smooth as well before the ribs start so leaning on their proven design concept is always a nice reassurance.

Front section is welded down and rear is in place. Final welding is taking place today. 2nd fuel filler door and rockers should be done this week as well. Then the body is off to be rotisserie media blasted, under coated and epoxy primed.

Everything that is non accessible gets treated with POR 15 then dyna matted

Thanks Brian, we figured no sense doing it half-assed!

The roof is now done, rockers are done, body is getting stripped. It goes for blasting, under coating and epoxy prime next week.

Wow !

That's wild. Those guys are true craftsmen.

How do you know them ?

Do you work with them, or are they just hired by you ?

Are you going to reveal the costs to do this job when it's all done.

And most of all...

What color are you painting it ?

I found them by searching for a fabrication company that specializes in this type of work and reviewing what they had done in the past. A couple that really stood out for me were the 67-72 Chevy suburban 4dr and 67-72 Chevy crew cab. He also does a pile of 67-72 chev short box conversions

I don't work with them, they are hired by me to do the conversion metal work.

Probably won't reveal the cost as I won't want to know myself.. It hasn't been budget friendly already

For color right now I'm think Ford green gem with gold on the bottom, similar to the 92/93 canyon sport ramchargers

Well with this portion it's hard to ignore the cost, these guys will be done with it in a day or two then it's off to the body shop. After that when I'm picking away at it the cost will be spread out over 1-2 years or so
