Really though is funny how bad two good colors cat be together.

I think that yellow would work on my 52GMC with all the rounded body panels.

It makes for some interesting sightings at car shows. like a Studebaker
buggy turned into a T bucket type of roadster.

It seems like every time I get started something happens to distract me.
My mom isn't well so I keep going and checking on her then when I get restarted I don't always finish what I was doing in the first place.
So I have a bunch of stuff partly done. It's kind ok cool to go to start something and the dirty work has already been done though

 

Not much exciting. I just pressed the new rear spring bushings in. I also made some 1/2" rear spacers to make up for the shorter spring pack of the D250. that and the raised front spring hangers.
Now I need to get some center bolts and clips to put the springs together.
I also am working on cleaning the frame up for some paint while it apart.
ya know the old while I am at it.

 

I have got the rear spring leaves treated with rust reformer and ready to assemble. I also drilled the saddles for the U bolts drilled out for 5/8 U bolts. And cleaned them up a bit.
After that I heated up and bent a cheapo 1/2" wrench so I can take off the e brake bracket off without taking the fuel tank off.

 

Are you putting wear tip bushings on your springs before re-assembly?

 

Not on this pair they aren't in real good shape. I am just going to run them while I hunt for some better ones.
The ones I have look like they have soft spots in them or something like that. they are worn in strange patterns.

They aren't really bad. Just not worth the effort.
I may start with a new set later and will do the wear tips right off the bat.

 

I actually put something together today. strange but true
This should become more common as time wears on
It is nice for a change to be putting something together for a change.
Ignore the boxes I have been collecting them to put down when I take the trans cooler lines off. Hopefully then I will have a disposable mess.

 

I got a little time in cleaning up the frame before it got hot out 115 in the sun. It was 106 in the shade when I called it quits. It is supposed ot be cooler later in the week maybe I can get some paint on it.

 

Those are some clean looking frame rails. Should paint up really nice!

My wife had wondered why I did my 4wd conversion over the winter. I asked her the other day...when it was about as hot as your place was today...if she understood "now" why I worked through the winter.

I can handle cold, and wet a lot better then screaming hot.

 

makes sense. We usually don't get so many days this hot.

Yeah the whole truck is pretty much like that. it hasn't been in the salt. the worst rust that I have found is it the middle of the top of the cab where the paint is baked off. and that isn't bad.
Also the weather was cooler today and is supposed to continue to hover around the high 80s for a few days. Ill be happy if I can get the back of the frame painted so I can hang the rear suspension.

 

I used to be able to handle the heat and humidity no problem. However my 3 years in northern MN have made 90f seem like a sauna. I remember when I could handle 140F.

 

we usually don't have very high humidity so it is really dry.
The humidity now is 24% and partly cloudy. it was nice and cool this morning but naturally I had to stay clean. Tomorrow is another day and hopefully cooler.

 

I got a little more done on the rearend today. I got the nooks and crannies cleaned out and treated it with phosphoric acid to kill the rust in the places I can't reach. I am going to hit it again in the morning when it is nice and cool. then I will turn my attention to the inside of the frame in the rear. Then, then, then,
