1990 D250 to W250
I snuck in a couple hours to work on my transmission tunnel today. I always hate to post pictures of this type of welding. I looks so ugly. in the picture on the right you can see where I cut the reliefs to get the tunnel to match the floor.

Who's gonna see it..... or you ?
Either way, ugly gets covered with a mat or carpet, or rubber flooring, so.... as long as it's water tight, you can spill your coffee anytime you want when the jobs done, and not a bad thing can come from it...
Is that what your wife says ???

That's the way I figure it.
I am glad that part is done. now for an encore I will clean up and paint the floor.
Or possibly get sidetracked on something else
In the meantime I am searching the thrift stores for a large ladies red leather coat. the bigger the better
.
I almost forgot. I have one more welding job on the firewall where the parking brake brace nut fell off and the pedal vibrated side to side and formed a crack. pretty easy fix. A plate on the inside. to distribute the force plug welded in place and weld up the crack from the outside.
I forgot to tighten the upper nut on the E-brake pedals assembly on the crewcab. Started rattling something fierce! Glad I got it before "that" happened.

I have known about the crack for a while. I was just waiting until the wheel wells were off.
There is a hell of a lot of spot welds. I sure wouldn't want to try and count them
We use ten pound spools of wire so it's hard to say how much I used.And thanks for the complement.
All I did today was . take the brake pedal out and mount the bracket for the clutch master cylinder. two parts off one part on.

You Cali guys really have no idea just how you are blessed, well except for the fruits and nuts running your state.

Today I took my instrument cluster apart and replaced the broken odometer gear with a spare. while I was in there I completely disassembled the rest of the assembly and cleaned it up. I also painted the needles. all I need to finish it up is some plastic polish.
I also found this. It is basically a miniature door panel. I made it to get a feel for what the full sized one would be like. It is true old style tuck and roll(Not just top sewn) I also made the welt(The black strip out of black vinyl and plastic clothes line) to try out a welting foot for my sewing machine. this stuff is really a blast to make.
