what should I offer?
my neighbor is the original owner of a 94 2wd 12 valve automatic with 75000 miles she died and the truck has the return line leak we all know about. her son doesnt know any thing about these trucks and is incharge of selling it. I want to make an offer, the fuel leak is a good bargaining chip but, how much should I low ball the truck?
thanks for your input.

According to Kelly Blue Book it is worth $7K on the high end, $5.5K on the low end. Offer them $5K. They are gonna see you driving it in an hour after you buy it and you don't want to make them mad.
Trade in values are $2K - $3K, wow.
What are they asking? Start there first.

yeah, I saw the kbb.com value. I was thinking 6500 max just not sure where to start. the guy kinda wants to keep it, he isnt trying to sell it so I wanna make it reasonable. also he lives outa state so no worries about them seeing how fast I can have it going. how much do you thing a dealer would quote him on fixing the leak?

good Idea, I want the truck for a work truck, so then I can bomb my 98. I will leave a note on it and keep an eye out for them to go back over to there. 4 sounds like a good start since it leaks fuel. and by the guys appearance I would say he doesnt even own a set of end wrenches

the guy is in his 50's and wears a suit that looks like it came from j.c. penny's. 6500 is my max offer I just wanted to know where to start. I'm sure the money sounds better to him then a reliable ride since he drives a 1990 corolla (or maybe he works for Bill Gates? "
