V10 to cummins
Ok I got 2 trucks I want to make into 1. One of them is a 1995 ram 2500 auto with a cummins with 90k on it but the frame is gone. The other truck is a 1994 ram 2500 5 speed with a dana 80 posi with a noisey v10 and a good frame. As far as I have read everything will bolt up both trucks are complete. Is there anything to look for when doing this any input would be great, Thanks Paul

This is a subject that I'm not SUPER familiar with, but I do know that the diesel trucks and the V10s have pretty much the same drive trains. I would suspect that the diesel has heavier springs up front for the weight of the motor.

I put a Cummins into a V10 chassis.
Your spring question got me thinking as the front springs were something I hadn't considered because the V10 appeared to be an equally heavy engine.
Did a little research,
The online catalogs show the same part number for the Cummins and the V10. However, aftermarket suppliers often generalize parts, so the info may not be completely accurate.
The Dodge build data shows about 25 different springs used on Dodge Rams, but it doesn't break out the specific models in which the spring is used.
The springs on my 2001 (formally V10) 3500 4wd extended cab dually 11,000 GVWR has 7" outside diameter springs, coil material is 7/8" thick.
I have a set of new springs (bought at auction) that is shown the build numbers as part number 52039072 tag#072 ZDC, ZSC.
Was told they were for a one ton 3500, they are 6" in diameter, 7/8" thick material. Have no idea which model they fit.
I tend to believe the V10 and the Cummins springs are the same.
The only way to know for sure is to visit a Dodge dealer to verify part numbers shown as "z" codes on the build sheets.

The V10 to Cummins swap is fairly easy since from the engine back the driveline is exactly the same, the bellhousing is exactly the same.
You'll need a wiring harness from a similar model cummins complete with the body computer (PCM), also a diesel instrument cluster.
You'll run into some nickel-dime issues like vacuum plumbing, air conditioning plumbing, missing holes on rad support to mount intercooler and a bunch of similar minor stuff, but all in all it's a simple swap.
