Can I swap V10 for Cummins?
I have a V10 that might be on it's way out. Just wondering if I can swap it for a Cummins? Will a cummins bolt up to the 47RE tranny? I have a 1997 2500 auto..
Anyone know?
Thanks.

I actually test drove a truck one time that had formerly been a V10, suffered an engine fire and they had swapped a Cummins and rebuilt the truck. You would never know the difference.
I believe it was an 01

i have thought about the swap myself.A friend of mine has a v-10 and wants to put in a cummins.I think the trucks are pretty close, transmission and axle wise. The wiring and dash are different, fuel tank may be different,v-10 uses an intank pump. The radiator and intercooler would be needed. If you could by a wrecked diesel truck the same year and switch over all the parts you need it would be do able. With out a complete truck purchased at a good price it may not be worth it.Probably better of to sell the v-10 and buy a diesel.Just my 02.
